Early Access and the future for Monsterstone: Prelude

Hello everyone, It has been a while since I have said anything about what is going on, but I have some really exciting news today!

First though, I would like to thank you for giving my game a look and maybe even a bit of a playthrough, it means a lot, and I hope you are curious to hear about the future for the game.

I finally got through the review process, so that Monsterstone: Prelude is now visible on the Steam store: https://store.steampowered.com/.../MonsterStone_Prelude/

Wishlist it if you are interested, or share it with someone you know who might, it will all be greatly appreciated 😄

You might be curious, or have some questions, so I will try to be as forthcoming as possible.

What does this mean for the demo here on itch.io?

If you already added Monsterstone: Prelude, you will continue to have access to the downloads here, but anyone new, who finds their way here, will not be able to. That being said, I do not intend on providing any future updates to the game for free, and my focus is currently the Early Access release on Steam, and continuing development.

Will the game eventually be released on itch.io or other store platforms?

Possibly. It has taken almost a month in order to learn, setup and create everything related to Steam and its store front, so ideally, I would have to set aside a lot of time if I wanted to go through a similar process for other store fronts. Being a solo developer, means that it would take time away from making the actual game itself, which is what I would rather focus on for the near future.

What have I been up to?

A lot has happened over the last many months. I participated in a programme for startups called "mikrolån". First, I spent 10 weeks where I was taught how to run a business (resulting in a business plan), followed by a period of 6 months where I have been allowed to start up, and run, said business. I am currently in the last few months of this period, with the end of Oktober marking the cut-off date. Essentially, Bended Rules has to be self sufficient by that time, or at least have enough funding to keep going. Due to the nature of this programme, I am allowed to own a business, even though I am still at the mercy of the Danish welfare system. Fingers crossed, my hard work will pay off, and I can work on the game full-time.

I have spent most of these months working on the original demo version of the game, adding sound, music, options menu, save profiles, better multiplier scaling and also a lot of bug fixes, just to mention a few. A lot of time has also been spent on getting all the basics in place, such as visuals and text needed for the Steam store and game library, quite an undertaking it turns out!

This is all both exciting and nervewrecking, and I am looking forward to continue developing Monsterstone: Prelude into an amazing game.
